Dear Friend of a New Day in Race Relations in Maryland/Delaware,
We are at an important point in our journey toward a New Day in Maryland/Delaware. For months we have met as pastors and leaders to begin that journey. We are now ready to take even bolder steps by getting our members together to embrace the effort.
On Sunday evening, October 9, black believers and white believers will gather at First Rock Baptist Church, 4630 Alabama Avenue, S.E., Washington, DC 20019, to board buses at 4:00 p.m. to move to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in DC for a brief time of prayer and commitment. We will leave the memorial at 5:45 to return to the church for a service of celebration and fellowship that will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m. The evening activities will conclude by 8:00 p.m.
This is a great opportunity to not only send an important message to our region, but it also represents a major step in taking our dream to the pews in our churches.
I know this represents short notice, but I encourage you to make every effort to participate with us. I also ask you to tell others who may wish to now begin to join our effort.
We are making progress. It will take time to get to where we want to go. It will take commitment and involvement from each of us. This is an important next step. I ask for your prayers and your personal participation.
If you have questions, give me a call.
Yours in Him,
David H. Lee
